ART + DESIGN GALLERIES
Learning from other artists and designers serves to inform and inspire our creations.
Every semester our galleries bring visiting artists and designers to further our education. We currently have 5 galleries. The Williams Galleries are found in the Beard Arts Center, where the visiting artists and designers hold their lectures and openings. The 1920 is a student operated space located in the Barnes Student Center, allowing us to gain hands on experience in art curation and managing a gallery. The Curfman Gallery and a student gallery reside in Center Hall, where many smaller student and faculty shows exhibit. We also have regular Pop-Up Gallery shows in downtown Marion, thanks to our wonderful friends. After all, what is art + design without community?
Found in the Beard Arts Center, the Williams Galleries showcase visiting artists and designers from around the country. Art + Design students are encouraged to visit these gallery showings for a chance to hear lectures from these professionals. These artists come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences and often love to share their stories.
The Curfman Gallery and second student gallery reside in Center Hall, where many smaller student and faculty shows exhibit.
Established in 2006, and located in the Barnes Student Center, the 1920 Gallery serves the Indiana Wesleyan, Grant County, and Council for Christian Colleges and Universities communities by providing a student-centered artspace to foster interdisciplinary dialogue about art, faith and human flourishing.
Monday – Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Weekends & University Breaks: Closed
Students who work for the gallery gain experience curating exhibitions, installing artwork, lighting gallery spaces, contacting artists, hosting receptions, and working as a team. The skills learned through the job have a great practical application for studio art majors as well as other majors.
